17 December 2018- The Whole School Beach Trip
As a whole school, we went to Eastern Beach to have fun and enjoy the summer. We made sand sculptures and played different games and activities organised by Kelly Sport.

15 November 2018- Kawau Bike Safety
The Kawau Team learnt about the safe riding techniques and bike skills through Bigfoot Adventures, a fully funded programme by Auckland Transport.

24 October 2018- Rangitoto Speech Finals
The Rangitoto Team have been listening to some amazing speeches during Week 1 of Term 4. We are so proud of the time and effort the children have put into their speeches. On Wednesday 24 October, we had our speech finals. What a difficult job we had choosing our winners!

27 September 2018- Macleans Got Talent
Macleans Got Talent is held every hear, organised by the house captains, and it is an opportunity to share talents through songs, dances and plays.
Everyone who took part did a fantastic job and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the performances.

22 September 2018- Cushionfall (Bark) Working Bee
Our school playgrounds have new bark and they are looking great.

21 September 2018- Kawau Technology Challenge: EPro8
EPro8 Challenge, an engineering and problem solving race, was held at Baverstocks Oaks School and some of our students took part in it.
Challenges included building a solar powered alarm, storm proof dog kennel and constructing a ladder to rescue a cat in a giant tree.
Well done to our problem solvers!

13 September 2018- Waiheke Wheels Day
The Waiheke Team had an awesome morning at the Wheels Day. They rode their bikes, scooters and raced across the concrete using the remote control cars. In the hall, road maps and bridges were set up to play with the toy cars.

Contsable Ian visited Macleans Primary to teach the Waiheke children about road safety.

31 August 2018- Koanga Festival
Our Kapa Haka group performed at the Koanga Festival. They sounded amazing and looked great in their new Kapa Haka uniform.

28-29 August 2018- H.P.P.A. Choir Festival
H.P.P.A. Choir members took part in the choir festival that was held at Bucklands Beach Intermediate School. Their performance was electric and excellent.

20-24 August 2018- Reading Carnival
We celebrated the Book Week through various events and activities throughout the week.
Fifi Colston, an author and illustrator, inspired us with her stories and experiences.
Spangle the Storyteller shared tales that are from different parts of the world.
Another highlight was the Book Parade where each syndicate had an opportunity to show their awesome book character costume.

16 August 2018- Waiheke Pirate Day
The Waiheke Syndicate enjoyed the Pirate Day, dressing up like pirates and showing their cool costumes at the pirate parade. The day also consisted of a fun treasure hunt, singing pirate songs and writing stories about pirates.

21 June 2018- Tammy Tornado Visits Waiheke Syndicate
The Waiheke Syndicate was excited about Tammy Tornado's visit and had a lot of fun learning about bubbles as part of their science unit on Water. She showed small and gigantic bubbles using wands of different sizes. Bubbles filled with helium went up in the air just like balloons. Students were amazed to see that an enormous bubble could even fit the teachers. They also made green gooey slime to take home in the end!
15 June 2018- Matariki
Waiheke, Rangitoto and Kawau Syndicates got together and celebrated Matariki as a whole school. We had activities such as waiata (songs), kite making, placemat weaving and planting veggies.
Matariki is a cluster of seven stars that marks the beginning of Maori New Year. It is a time to gather with family, reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future.

3 May 2018- New Classroom Opening Ceremony
Waiheke Team participated in the opening ceremony of new classrooms. Room 18 children cut the ribbon with Mr Bayly and Ms Laffoley as they begin their learning journey in a new classroom. Students will come to Room 17 for Ready-Set-Go and Room 19 is yet to be filled with new entrants!
We were all excited to celebrate our newly-built, fabulous-looking classrooms.

12 April 2018- Commonwealth Games
We had our School-wide Commonwealth Games and each of us represented a country. We all tried our best showing great sportsmanship. There were 12 different activities and Commonwealth sports such as hockey, gymnastics and athletics.
