21 June 2018- Tammy Tornado Visits Waiheke Syndicate

The Waiheke Syndicate was excited about Tammy Tornado's visit and had a lot of fun learning about bubbles as part of their science unit on Water. She showed small and gigantic bubbles using wands of different sizes. Bubbles filled with helium went up in the air just like balloons. Students were amazed to see that an enormous bubble could even fit the teachers. They also made green gooey slime to take home in the end!

15 June 2018- Matariki

Waiheke, Rangitoto and Kawau Syndicates got together and celebrated Matariki as a whole school. We had activities such as waiata (songs), kite making, placemat weaving and planting veggies.

Matariki is a cluster of seven stars that marks the beginning of Maori New Year. It is a time to gather with family, reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future.

12 June 2018- Waiheke Woodwork

Here are some of our Year 1 students engaged in a Wish activity making their Matariki stars.  These students are so confident using hammers and nails to create a Matariki star at the woodwork bench.
